Best 24 Hour Restaurants in Toronto

Food scene

Lakeview is one of Toronto’s oldest and most venerated 24-hour diners. When I tell people I’m going there for a meal during the day, the most popular responses are that they haven’t been there before midnight or not when near blackout drunk.

Perfect Chinese Restaurant is where to go for braised duck with pork or deep fried stuffed bean curd 24 hours a day. This Scarborough destination near Brimley and Sheppard seems to host large families, drunken revelers and everyone in between.

They’ve been doing so for around 30 years in a unique three-level brick walk-up space. The first floor is the only one fully open 24/7. The hours for the rest of the space are still impressive, the second floor opening at 3 p.m. and closing at 4 a.m. The third floor is only open for dinner service Monday through Thursday, but operates from morning until last call (about 11 a.m. - 4 a.m.) on Friday and Saturday.

Fran's, of course, is open 24hrs , and once T.O.'s night hawks are done working and/or partying around town, they congregate here for some food and flourescent lights. A couple friends and I settle in with some coffee (and free refills, of course), a tall Coke float (it's Fran's after all) and some food. One order of the Big Breakfast (to split) and a Rainbow Benedict... coming up.

Owl of Minerva has multiple locations in Toronto including this one on Yonge Street. Although it's on the menu of every other restaurant on this list, when I specifically crave gamja tang I always instinctively think of the Owl. Why? Because there's pork bone soup, and then there's pork bone soup at 3 a.m after a heady night on the town. It's the same, but better, and it tends to create a bias. Places that are open 24-hours a day tend to attract loyal followings and the Owl is no different.
