Wineries

Falmouth NS is truly the Gateway to the Annapolis Valley, and most importantly, to the wonderful vineyards and wineries of the Valley. We are thrilled that you chose Domaine SharDonEh Honeymoon Annex and Suite at Johnston Vineyards (www.johnstonvineyards.com) as your homebase to explore the wineries in the region. We currently are grape-growers and do not have a formal winery, but sell our grapes to 2 of the wineries listed below. Please be sure to ask us more about each of our favourites as listed below! Suggestion: The "hop-on-hop-off" bus service, based in Wolfville, is a great way to tour amongst these excellent wineries (see the link for "Magic Winery Bus").
We sell our grapes to Lightfoot and Wolfville, an exceptional winery in Wolfville, NS. They also have food service, with an outdoor patio, featuring wood-fired pizzas, and much, much more! Ask for our Johnston Estate Stainless Steel Riesling 2021 - it is delicious! Visit their website for more info: https://lightfootandwolfville.com/

We also sell grapes to Luckett Vineyards. They probably have the nicest patio to have an awesome lunch, or on the weekends, dinner. Definitely Napa-esque, but even better!! From the British phone booth in the vineyard you can call anywhere in the world FOR FREE! Yes, Pete Luckett is a Brit, who had his start in the green grocer business in Birmingham, England many years ago. He has been a most successful entrepreneur. Interesting building... an abandoned church was floated at high tide from a nearby community, purchased for $1.00 and turned into this unique winery. Wines tend to be on the sweet side, but the vibe is fun.

Food scene

Are you a foodie? There is so much excellent local fare offered in our region. Farm to table is the general theme, with incredibly creative chefs, inspired by the gifts from the land and the surrounding sea. Lots of carry out as well as dine in options. This list is by no means exhaustive, and still growing!
Windsor: Save yourself the trouble of visiting all the NS wineries in person, and just do the tastings here! Ingrid and Robert have culled together most all of the province's best offerings, and pair with some delicious seasonal culinary delights. If you are lucky, and it is on the weekend, they may also have some great entertainment for you.. maybe my brother-in-law's band will be doing a gig!

Avoid the chain supermarkets! Only 5 min away, on the road into towards Windsor, this is THE closest place to go for delicious local fruit, veggies, granola, maple syrup, baked goods (Don loves their date squares, and they make THE BEST cookies, brown bread, and pies.. lemon meringue is my fave, followed closely by coconut cream pie!) Also fresh haddock from Digby on Wednesdays... I will cook for you if you like :), and best of all, the ICE CREAM! In the summer they have a walk up serving booth on the verandah... pick your flavour... of course maple walnut is a staple Canadian favourite, but there are many to choose from! They also have a garden center in the spring/early summer... yes, that is where I get the beautiful plants on the terrace/patio and verandah.. and local craft items.

Activities: Hiking, Running, Ziplining, Skiing

Activities most enjoyed in our community and surrounding areas include hiking, biking, cycling, sightseeing, balloon rides, wine tasting, zip lining, golfing, walking tours, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and xc skiing. For hiking, there are so many options, (check out: hikenovascotia) but here are 2 to start you off.. one is right out the door, and the other you have to drive a bit, over to Blomidon.. a great way to work off a wine tasting experience! .. and then the ziplining details follow...

Want a place to run to? just turn left out of driveway, and go to stop sign, turn right and you are on Castle Frederick Road, which ends in a trail that goes up to a log cabin! You can drive there if you want to instead, and then hike. Either way, it is a lovely quiet road that has great vistas as you pound the pavement!
