The statue group of Matia Corvinul was inaugurated in 1902. The particular value of the equestarian statue lies in the uniqueness of the position of the horse, with all its four hooves on the pedestral. The characters which complete this artistic piece are the king's high officials with extremly expressive faces, enhancing the novelty of this statue group, another symbol of the city of Cluj. Represents Matthias ,who was the King of Hungary, Croatia, Bohemia and Duke of Austria, between 1458-1490. Matthias established one of the earliest professional standing armies of medieval Europe (the Black Army of Hungary), reformed the administration of justice, reduced the power of the barons, and promoted the careers of talented individuals chosen for their abilities rather than their social statuses. Matthias patronized art and science; his royal library, the Bibliotheca Corviniana, was one of the largest collections of books in Europe. With his patronage, Hungary became the first country to embrace the Renaissance from Italy.

The Mirror Street is actually almost perfectly symmetric, with only few different components that don’t mirror each other. This is a definitely unique structure in Transylvania, and the street is in fact named Iuliu Maniu. The corners of the street are not actual square corners – they are rounded, creating an even more powerful reflection effect. The mirroring buildings are Banffy Palace and Wolphard-Kakas house. Really a unique experience that you shouldn’t miss!

Here you can get a coffe or eat in the many bars and restaurants, or at least take a walk. You can also find the Matthias Corvinus house in the Museum Square, where he was born and this is the oldest house of Cluj. The style of the building is gothic, so I recommend you enter and visit it especially if you’re into architecture and history.

Cetatuia Hill is, as its name claims, a 405m tall hill. You can either climb the stairs to the top. The view of the town from the apartment is from north and from there you can see the town from the south, so I strongly recommend being there at sunset.
