India in the Cotswolds. Sezincote is unique. At the heart of a traditional, family-run estate covering 3,500 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside stands a 200-year-old Mogul Indian palace, set in a romantic landscape of temples, grottoes, waterfalls and canals reminiscent of the Taj Mahal. Visitors are welcomed to the house and garden at the set opening times. Dogs are not allowed.

🐾 Dogs welcome on short lead. The 56 acre arboretum at Batsford is situated just a mile west of the historic market town of Moreton in Marsh in the heart of the Cotswolds. A former home to the famous Mitford family, interest in the arboretum begins in late winter when the snowdrops, aconites and early flowering daffodils spring into life, followed by magnolias, hellebores, fritillaries and the beautiful Japanese ornamental cherries – stars of the show from late March until mid April. The handkerchief tree is another show-stopper in May, as are the beautiful wildflower meadows which bloom in high summer. Don’t miss nature’s natural fireworks spectacular in autumn as the Japanese maples give the performance of their lives, with colours ranging from butter gold to bright reds and salmon pinks.

Giffords circus is a magical show, they are based near Stroud but visit lots of locations around the Cotswolds area. They say....'' Our costumes are handmade, our animals are trained by us, our sets are painted in the barns on our farm. We burn the midnight oil to conjure new visions for the show. It’s all we do. Circus is our job, our life, our love. Giffords Circus is a magical village green circus that tours England from the first days of spring to the first glimpse of winter. It’s our hymn to homemade fun, excess and benign disruption."

Within part of an old Victorian school building in Moreton-in-Marsh it’s a treasure trove of RAF memorabilia and aviation art. The extensive private collection was the result of one man’s passion and pride at having served in the Royal Air Force. It has become an invaluable record of how the second World War impacted upon a small market town such as the ‘Wings for Victory’ appeal, local prisoner of war camps and the encampment of USA’s Super Sixth Armoured Division prior to the D Day landings. Today visitors come from around the world, many of whom have relatives that were trained at Moreton or similar bases.

Chipping Campden is often called the jewel of the North Cotswolds. It’s a small market town within the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England. Chipping Campden is most noted for its long and wide High Street, dating from the 14th century to the 17th century. At the centre of the market square is the market hall built by a wealthy wool merchant in 1627. Enjoy a wander around the pretty streets, visit the varied and interesting local independent boutiques and shops, or enjoy afternoon tea at one of the tea rooms. Letters show that The Red Lion Tavern was a favourite place for J R Tolkien and his son Christopher to stay. He would sign copies of The Lord of the Rings for the owner out of gratitude.

At nearly 800ft, Stow is the highest of the Cotswold towns, located on the Roman Fosse Way and at the point where several roads meet. It had a special importance in the English Civil War, the last battle was fought close by in Donnington back in 1646. St Edward’s Church, was used as a prison for the defeated Royalist troops, as it was the only lockable building in the town. Some of the damage sustained at this time can still be seen today. The Market Square is large and impressive and testifies to the town’s former importance. It is surrounded by town houses, independent shops, antique centres, cosy cafes and inns all built in the mellow local stone, and it has been the focus of town life over many centuries, with the medieval market stocks at one end, the ancient market cross at the other and the impressive St Edwards Hall
