I recently went here and had a fantastic cheese tasting plate and wine. The small cheese plate is 28€ but will easily feed two for dinner, we could barely finish it! Good atmosphere. On a street we really love with lots of bars, restaurants and shops.

If you want to see a lot of the major sights but don't have much time, we definitely recommend taking a boat trip. The Bateaux Parisiens trip leaves from the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

This park is right next to our apartment. We go here several times a day. Take a left out of the apartment and then take the Sentier des Messiers, you will arrive at the park after a 2 minute walk.

A good place to start a walk through the Marais District. Get off the metro at Temple (line 3, direct from Gallieni), walk along the Rue de Bretagne, stop off at this market and then wander around the North Marais. I love Popelini for cream filled choux buns. Also good are Candelaria for tacos and cocktails.

It can be tricky to find a decent and affordable place to eat near the Eiffel Tower. This pedestrian street has a good selection of places to eat and, if the weather is good, lots of shops where you could buy picnic food to eat at the park Champ du Mars.

You can take metro line 9 to Republique, then exit Rue du Faubourg du Temple. The start of the Canal is right here.

The last metro on line 3 leaves from Gallieni and Pont de Levallois stations in both directions at 0:45 from Monday to Friday, and at 1:45 on Saturdays and Sundays. Your stop on line 3 is Galliéni.

Restaurants and eating out
French people generally eat lunch between 12 and 2pm and then dinner from 7.30pm to 10pm. Most restaurants will only serve between these times, obviously there are exceptions.
Bread and tap water are free. Ask for a "carafe d'eau" for tap water. Parisians will not generally drink bottled water, unless it is sparkling water.
Paris water is safe to drink.
