A short hike from Weinheim....
The Windeck was built after 1100 as a protective castle for the Lorsch monastery and was destroyed in the
17th century.
The castle ruins have been owned by the town of Weinheim since 1978. An architectural rarity is the spiral staircase embedded in the wall of the keep.

The Wachenburg, located almost on the summit of the Wachenberg, was built between 1907 and 1928 as a memorial and meeting place for the Weinheimer Senioren-Convent and its active student corps. The focal point of the social life of the WSC is the annual meeting that takes place during Ascension Day.
The Wachenburg houses a restaurant with an outdoor seating area.
