Good for mooching!
Burnham Market is about a 15/20 minute drive from the house and is well worth a visit if you fancy mooching about. There are a number of independent clothing shops, lifestyle shops and cafes. There is also a bread shop, deli, hardware shop, old fashioned sweet shop, mini supermarket, garage, Post Office and even a hat shop! https://burnhammarket.co.uk/

Thornham is about 15 minutes from the house. There a number of nice pubs serving good food. Thornham Deli and lifestyle shop does a good cooked breakfast and they have a dog friendly section so you can take your fury friend with you. There is a footpath from the Deli running along the back of the hedge and parallel to the road which will take you to Drove Orchards. If you don’t fancy the work, it’s about 2/3 minutes in the car and there’s plenty of parking. Drove Orchards has a number of lifestyle shops plus the highly recommended fish and chips from Eric’s. There’s also a pizzeria in a yurt, fish shop, great farm shop and cream parlour selling delicious ice cream.

Beaches

A beach for everyone!
Brancaster beach is a good family beach. When the tide is out you can venture left or right. Plenty of space for everyone! There’s a car park but check the tide times as it does flood. There’s a toilet block and a kiosk for drinks and snacks, buckets and spades and other beach necessities!

The picturesque harbour at Burnham Overy Staithe is where Admiral Nelson learnt to sail. If you don’t mind a walk to the beach, it’s worth taking the mile long ridge path which leads to a steep sand dune. Climb up the sand dune and the beach lies below. If you are after a longer walk, you can walk all the way to Holkham and on to Wells next the Sea, either along the beach or through the pine trees. Good for a long circular walk, finished off with a well earned drink at The Hero in Burnham Overy Staithe.

A lovely beach beautiful soft sand, framed with the backdrop of coloured beach huts and pine trees. On a sunny blue sky day, the view through the pine trees is amazing. The beach nearest the cafe is dog free. The dog friendly section is further down and can be accessed by the steps through the pine trees. Alternatively, if you walk through the end of the car park, you can access the beach with minimal steps by walking through the pine trees, past the toilet block, up the sloping board walk and down a few steps between the beach huts.
