Food scene

This place has amazing Mexican food. Our favorites are the chicken tinga chimichanga and the steak burrito. They also have excellent flavored margaritas. They serve brunch on the weekends too which few people know about.

This is THE T-Town BBQ place. There are two in town. This one has a wider menu than the original Dreamland. If you want ribs, I suggest Original Dreamland on Jug Factory Rd., but if you need to please a wider audience and still want that authentic Alabama BBQ then I suggest the Dreamland listed here in Northport. You can smell the smoke starting from the pits as early as 10am!

Hooligans is an amazing quick service place that combines American and Greek food offerings. We love the lamb gyro and chicken philly wrap and their fries are always amazing. Also, if you are a tea drinker, try their mint iced tea- very unique! There are two locations. The one North of the River is nicer than the one on 15th Street and just over the bridge (about 8 minutes from the house).

There are three Heritage Houses in town and it is the BEST breakfast around in our opinion. I like the one on Jack Warner since its close to the River/RiverWalk and has lots of natural light. My food suggestions are the parmesan encrusted sandwich and the maple pecan scone with a cup of their daily rotation flavored coffee, but honestly you cannot go wrong with anything here!

Sightseeing

You can start at Manderson Landing which is also where the UA Rowing team is housed and follow the Riverwalk (paved the whole way) to the end where Heritage House is. You can choose to stop and get breakfast in the middle at Another Broken Egg or walk till the end to Heritage House (a fan favorite). There is also a playground and hidden goblin statues along the path that can be a fun activity for kids. The Tuscaloosa RiverMarket is also around the middle of the path and is open most Saturdays from 8-12pm.
