Sightseeing
To walk to Long Sands (our favorite beach!) take a left out of the driveway. Walk up Ridge Road until you are able to cross the road onto Beacon Street. Head down Beacon Street while you enjoy the view of the water until you reach Long Sands Beach. Pick your spot! We personally like to walk a bit to north (take a left) where the bath house is easily accessible and there is a ramp down to the sand - great for strollers and wagons. You can also park along Long Sands in a meter spot, if you get there early enough.
Pay attention to the tide chart. At high tide, Long Sands loses a lot of available sand area. But at low tide there's an endless amount of beach available.

Short Sands Beach is just over a mile from the house. We love to take longs walks down there to hang out downtown and go to the playground and basketball courts. If driving down for a beach day, the parking lot at short sands is managed privately, be sure to pay attention to the meter rules.

York Harbor Beach requires a drive. But, it is less busy. It is a bit more rocky. The beach has nice connections to nearby parks and paths along the water. Permit parking only at the actual beach.

One of our favorite places to grab a bite! Stone's Throw has fantastic seating with patios overlooking Long Sands. We love the food and the cocktails. Fish and chips and clam chowder are a must have!
