One of the most popular trails, nice introduction to the Smokies, mostly shaded and next to a streaming fall most of the way. It's mostly uphill the entire way. During the hot seasons, it does get humid. It is 2.6 miles to Rainbow Falls one way. You get a 1,685 of elevation gain with a 80 ft waterfall.

Distance: 1 hour drive to get to Cades Cove from the parks entrance Food: bring drinks and snacks and enjoy the views along the way, there is a shop with snacks outside of the Cades Cove loop, but there is no food to purchase in the park Drive time: It's a one-lane 11 mile scenic loop drive with 17 stops along the way. Most of the stops along the way take you to either churches or homesteads. During the busy seasons, plan for traffic and arrive early, it could take hours to get through the loop. Time: Up to 3 hours during the warm seasons due to the stop and go traffic. If you need to cut the trip short - there are two roads you can turn off at if you want to cut the drive short. **Recommend Guest Tip: Don't miss the Cable Mill built in the late 1800's. Best spot in the park for Sunset lovers. You'll have to do a small .5 mi hike up to Clingmans Dome. There's a ton of uphill and you're at the tallest part of the park so you'll feel the elevation. It provides 360 degree views of the Smokies. Views area awesome and well worth it!
