Food scene

Best bakery in the area - tasty sourdough and focaccia, awesome sarnies and coffee. It's also a social enterprise you can feel good about spending your hard earned money there! It's at the end of an alley, so if you think you've made a wrong turn - you haven't! The large outside space is shared with a local craft brewery - 40FT. Don't miss their epic Hazy Pale Ale - Dalston Sunrise.

Broadway Market is next to London Fields park. The (mostly) independent restaurants and shops are open all week, and street food and craft vendors pop up for the weekend market. Saturday is the best day to visit, as the number of stalls tends to be smaller on Sundays. Pick up your choice of tasty street food from all around the world and sit down to enjoy it at bustling London Fields.

Lovely local pub with plenty of outdoor seating and decently priced food - try the tofu dog or chicken burger. Live music some nights, look behind the bookcase!

Great coffee, sandwiches and pastries 2 minutes' walk from our flat. Set in a former joinery workshop from the late 1800s, the place has been converted into a roastery as well as coffee shop. Sit out front in the garden if the weather is nice!

Sightseeing

A lovely community garden set up to make up for the lack of green space in the immediate area. Free to visit and they sometimes host events in the evening or weekends. Stop by to sit in the garden and enjoy a coffee or a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) or a pizza on weekends.

Part of the same complex as the Dusty Knuckle and owned by the same charity - the roof park is set in a historic paint factory. Worth a visit both to check out the tiling on the outside and the views on top. They host events on evenings on weekends, some of which are paid for. They also serve beer from the local 40FT craft brewery and pizza from Gordo's on Dalston High Street.

Neighbourhoods

A few stops away from Dalston on the Overground or a short cycle away. Alternatively, if you like walking, you can slowly make your way over along the canal. Lots of art galleries, cafes, bars and street art to enjoy. We would especially recommend some of the canal side places - Grow (community garden, vegan restaurant, live jazz music some evenings), Number 90 (drag bingo and dancing), Howling Hops (craft beer and great vibes), Crate Brewery (more craft beer and pizza) and Barge East (restaurant boat, a little pricey but really high quality food).
