The main city centre for Stoke-on-Trent, it's shopping centre, like many is somewhat disappointing. It does however have a vibrant Cultural Quarter with cinemas, theatres, Art Gallery and Museum, and the restored Bethesda Methodist Chapel.

The Grade I listed Gothic Revival church was designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. It has a spire height of 61m / 200 ft and is by far the tallest building in the town. As you walk in you can see it's one of the best preserved churches of it's kind in Britain. From the wooden roof to the alter, from the stained glass windows to the interior decoration, it's just a delight to see. You could spend all day just looking. Take a few £1 coins - you'll need them to switch the interior lights on to see the building at its best. Parking can be a problem but it's worth it.
