The Tobacco Museum traces the history of what used to be one of the most important cash crops of Puerto Rico and the wider Caribbean region. The tobacco that was cultivated on Caguas's land used to be of such outstanding quality that Cuba once imported it to be mixed in with their world-famous cigars.
A replica of a tobacco "ranchón," built on a smaller scale, demonstrates how tobacco was cured and dried. The experience is enriched by the presence of several artisans who carefully make handmade cigars. If you are a tobacco lover, do not miss the opportunity to take home some handmade cigars, they will be a pleasant memory of your visit to Caguas. Tues.- Sat. 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
