I normally wouldn't recommend eating at hotels, but there's a really nice outdoor cafe area, with a view of the famous cathedral. It's worth it to get a beer and a light snack to enjoy the view.

Really good chinese restaurant, my parents even liked it, which means it's good! A bit on the expensive side, but quantity of food is large so go in a group.

One of my favorite restaurant/cafes in Cologne. They are known for their baked goods (breads, German cakes/pies/tarts), but the food is excellent as well. Get the Gulash in a sourdough bowl.

Highly recommend this place. One of the best asian restaurants in town. Almost everything I've had on the menu is good. Owner/wait staff are friendly & service is good.

My favorite tapas place. Always crowded so there might be a wait, they don't take reservations, but if you go early (before 7 or 8), it's easier to get a table. Highly recommend!

"Fast food" Italian. Not exactly authentic but still good and cheap. It's self-serve though and you have to wait in line for your food.

If you have some time, this fish house is a great way to end a walk or a bike ride along the Rhein. A rustic little place off the main road. They have lots of fish dishes but also burgers.

When the sun is out, great place to relax and have a beer by the Rhein. From the apartment, you can walk to the Rhein and then follow the path (turning right across the small drawbridge) all the way.

My current favorite place in the neighborhood. Modern turkish food in a pleasant, cozy setting. It's self-serve, so prices are cheaper. Really nice place to have lunch or a glass of wine.

This and the Great Wall are one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Entrees are large and a bit pricey though, meant for family style eating.

If you like sauna then experiencing a German sauna is a must. My husband and I usually spend the whole day here, it's hands down the nicest sauna in Cologne.
