Hiking / Biking
Minnewaska is about 15 minutes away and a gorgeous, popular place for hiking and biking - there are 25 miles of paths.
The parking lot may be crowded and the almost 2 mile loop around the lake is the most popular but get off on a trail and you see v few people overall and can immerse yourself in the beauty of this park.

Hiking
This is the area that you see straight from the back deck of the apartment. It’s about 15 minutes away and has wonderful trails for hiking, some amazing views and ice caves.

Walking / Biking
This old railroad bridge suspended over the Hudson River became a state historic park in 2009 and is the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world. It connects to the Empire State Trail. You can also do the Walkway Loop which will take you through some neighborhoods and return over the Mid Hudson Bridge (note the Bridge Music Listening Stations!). The loop is approx. 4 miles.
Highland is on our side of the River and once you walk over you can go to restaurants along the river on the Poughkeepsie side.

The Springwood house is part of the tour and the Presidential Library and Museum are extremely interesting. The grounds are lovely as well. Located in Hyde Park about 45 minutes from the apartment.
