Thalassa is a family-run taverna in nearby Agios Gordios. It is my all-time favorite place to eat and have interesting conversation. The food is all home-cooked by Stella. They use a traditional stone oven for many of their dishes. They serve their own homemade wines. Exquisite! Right on the beach with a view of the Ortholithi (the big rock jutting out of the sea).

Georgos and his wife Angela have run this family mini-market in the center of Agios Gordios, near the bus stop, for years. Georgos' outgoing, warm personality is infectious and he won't leave anyone indifferent. He makes every visitor feel like they have come home.

The most beautiful paradise on earth. The Igumen, Father Daniel, rebuilt this 16th century monastery from ruins. The miracle working icon of the Blessed Theotokos of Mirtiotissa was discovered here by the monastery's founder inside a cave in the shape of a dove, in the 1500s, who was also named Daniel. The icon adorns the church. Feast day is Sept. 24. A challenging drive down the mountain road to reach the monastery, but well worth your trouble.
