Even though Venice Beach is a walk away, we love venturing to El Porto for a long day in the sun. There's metered parking and it's a popular surfing spot. It can be cleaner and a bit less hectic than Venice or Santa Monica beaches.

Been going to the SM Pier since I was a kid. Such an iconic So Cal spot. Love the arcade, the historic carousel, and just walking around and taking in the sights. The ferris wheel is worth the cost—amazing views on clear days! Can't speak much to the food on the pier, so many better places close by to eat. It can also get crazy crowded in this part of Santa Monica, but a visit here makes for a fun outing with tons of photo ops!
