Samgöngur

Antigua is very walkable

The market is a short 20 minute walk from Casa Amarilla. For those who don't want to or are unable to walk, tuc-tuc's are a fun, fast and affordable way to get around. Taxis are also available for hire. Don Julio Lopez is our favorite taxi driver and can be reached at 4361 0655
Ekki missa af

The view from the Cerro de la Cruz

You can hike up a steep but well-maintained path or choose to drive to the top of Cerro de la Cruz for stunning views of Antigua and Volcan Agua.
Siðir og menning

Please ask indigenous peoples before taking a photo of them.

Some people may ask for a small fee to take their photo.
Sparnaðarleiðir

Try food shopping at the market

The local market is much cheaper than the grocery store, if you are preparing your own food. The market is on the west end of Antigua. Just beware of pickpockets in the market, keeping your valuables to a minimum.
Hvað á að taka með

Variety of clothing

Days can be hot and nights can be cold. During rainy season (May-Oct), bring bug spray. Comfortable shoes for walking are a must.
Gagnlegar setningar

Buenos dias.....buenas tardes....buenas noches

It is very polite to great everyone with these simple phrases as you pass by them. Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening.
Ferðast með börnum

Strollers a big NO

The streets of Antigua are uneven and cobble-stoned, potentially destroying strollers. Backpacks are much more travel-friendly for the little ones.
