Local Food in Los Barriles and beyond

My favorites.
Varied and eclectic menu with sushi and other seafood, beef, pork and chicken entrees. Great for dinner. Reservations aren't required but are helpful to the restaurant.

The beach here is fantastic. Best in Baja. Snorkeling just north of the casitas, easy walk, to the first set of rocks. More snorkeling further north at the bend, in front of Rancho Buena Vista.

City/town information

Old British mining town that still has some historic mining facilities from the 1800s. The town also boasts an antique collection of pianos that were shipped in and carted across the desert for entertainment for the thousands of people who used to live there. Small but well-done museum and a couple good restaurants.

Top town for kite boarding and fishing. Catch a panga boat out of nearby Muertos Bay for catching roosterfish, dorado, grouper, and more. Recommend: Juan Lucero Fly Fishing.

Catch a snorkel tour, pirate ship sunset cruise, booze cruise or check out the local nightlife. The marina is worth seeing. Check out the famous Cabo arch. I've used Cabo Adventures and really liked that outfit for their tours.

Food, Sightseeing, Art

Check out the "art walk" every Thursday night starting at 4 p.m. in the old part of town near the old church. So many food choices, people walking around (locals and tourists) and amazing art in the galleries.

Hazards on Local Highways: Keep Alert

Renting a car is the best way to get around these parts. That being said, there are often cows, horses and donkeys that free roam the open lands and wander into the roads. If you see someone driving toward you with their hazard lights on, that means there is a potential hazard up the road and to be alert. Also watch for washed-out roads and oncoming traffic passing in your lane. Cars on the highways go varying speeds and passing is common, even on solid lines (versus dotted lines). Roads are also very narrow so watch your shoulders.
