5 minutes north. Incredibly low real estate values (but high property taxes, partly a consequence of having so many schools and charities). Explore High Street for investment in the next wave of downtown revitalization, as people get bored of Phoenixville and want a more diverse /interesting challenge.

5 minutes east. Sitting pretty could be Spring City, with unrealized potential to become another "Jewel of the Schuylkill". Currently, Gateway to Pennhurst. Chaplins (a former vaudeville theatre) is sometimes open with live music. Locals gather at Spring City Hotel for early bird specials. Check out bars & beautiful church windows.

Maybe it's just me, but I love this area. This place, where Washington crossed the Schuylkill after the Battle of the Clouds, with its historic homes and trails, the old Baptist Church with its cemetery, and all the other cemeteries in this area, carry a lot of memories for me. Ever growing number of trails are coming to the area, with many beautiful views.

Sightseeing

15 minutes east. Holy ground. Washington... an amazing man. He came back a couple of times. Must have reminded him, as it reminds us, of the miracle that is America. Like Gettysburg, well documented landmarks and beautiful walks and scenery.

There are many parks, gardens and trails close by, but both Pigeon Creek that flows past our place, and fabulous trout stream French Creek on the other side of the ridge from us, originate in or near this state park.

Food Scene

The Inn has John Pierce's Kimberton Village painting. He did a charcoal of my Granddad, and a painting of me, as well. I have those paintings here. The food at the Inn is wonderful, and the owner is a caring host.
