Food scene
Great atmosphere with both tourists and locals (which is rare). I met our daughters here the last time I was home. We met around noon because one wanted breakfast and the other wanted lunch.
While it is a tourist favorite, it is very hot inside and very busy. The food is good, but I don’t like the the latest change they have ordering at the counter. No table service for refills, anything you may need, etc. You have to wait back in line.
Another change is cleaning your own table. I’m all about picking up after myself, but I don’t eat out often and when I do, I just want to relax.
I also felt the need to wipe the table off before we sat down.

You can be seat yourself & order at the counter. Good food, good portions, friendly staff.

It can get pretty expensive- especially if you’re drinking.
I think ordering Gino’s, getting your own beverages, playing music, talking, & sitting in the back yard playing corn hole, with a fire in the fire pit is more fun!

The Gristmill is one of the most photographed structures. It’s a great place to walk around, hike, run, horseback riding, and fish.

Another must see!! Great place to visit, sightseeing at the overlook, walk around, eat at the lodge restaurant, ride the tram and boat up the New River and see the locals summer cabins. Yes, most vacation right here! Why would we leave! 😃

I like the BLAT, mushroom, and buffalo chicken! 😋
Try to check online before you go though - they might be hosting something you don’t want to go to- trivia night, live mic, or even a drag show.
