We are situated right in the centre of "Hop Country" and delighted to have our own Brewery & Tap Room in Tenterden just below the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Old Diary has won many awards and if beer is your bevvy then do pay them a visit. Harveys at Lewes is our main Brewery and a nice place to visit but over an hours drive from here.

Chapel Down is well known to many. William & Kate put them on the map when they sourced their wines for their Wedding Day. Their wine tours are very interesting and then you can enjoy lunch or dinner at The Swann Restaurant on site and enjoy a bottle of their wines. You need to book this in advance - they get very busy.

Sightseeing

We have one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on our doorstep (30 mins away by car). Enjoy the sand dunes, take a picnic and enjoy feeling the sand in your toes. Definitely worth a visit at any time of the year. Stunning walk. The Pelican is great for Fish & Chips just in the town if that's your desire.

Rye is a beautiful, historic town dated from 1066 and the Battle of Hastings, it has many independent shops, places to eat, pubs and an interesting Jail and Church. Many period dramas have been filmed in Rye - it's quaint, lovely to walk around with its narrow cobbled streets (Mermaid Street is stunning for photos) and a real jewel in our crown. The Mermaid Hotel/Inn has one of the oldest bars in Kent with a roaring log fire, you will find it right at the back of the property, hidden away. Rye is a "must see" for our first time visitors. Cambers Sands is only 10 minutes from Rye if you wanted to explore both in a day. The Rye Nature reserve is also on the doorstep to discover our local seabirds with hides for observation - lovely walk with free car park. So plenty to discover here. Pop to the Globe Inn for lunch or dinner - see places to eat in this Guide. Haydens is great for lunch in the High Street with a stunning view from their windows.

Tunbridge Wells is well known for the Pantiles (in the old Lower High Street) where you will find an abundance of independent shops and eateries where you can find anything to eat from shellfish to beef burgers. It's a great place to sit outside and has a busy, happy vibe to it. The Upper High Street has a large shopping centre - Victoria Place with all the well known shops ie Fenwicks, Hobbs, M&S. Scotney Castle & Hever Castle (childhood home of Anne Boleyn) are both near to Tunbridge Wells. A good pub near Hever Castle is The Dorset Arms at Hartfield - great food in a fantastic medieval building, family owned. This combo is a nice day out. The George & Dragon Pub/Restaurant at Speldhurst is recommended too just 15 minutes outside Tunbridge Wells.

We have amazing coastlines in Kent to explore but Whitstable is one of my favourites with it's harbour, fish shacks, restaurants and pubs. The beach is shingle and lovely to walk along the boardwalk. Many independent shops to discover too. The Sportsman at Seasalter is a great pub and JoJo's at Tankerton are recommended haunts, both just outside Whitstable.

Bewl Water is our local reservoir at Wadhurst on the way to Tunbridge Wells, which does not sound particularly inviting but it is the polar opposite. It is stunning with beautiful walks, mountain bike trails, sailing/watersports, cafe and it's our little bit of Scotland in Kent. Some of the vistas are just as you would see in the North. Well worth exploring. Wadhurst is near Scotney Castle and there is a good pub nearby, The Old Vine at Cousley Wood which does great food. The Small Holding Restaurant at Kilndown is not too far from Bewl Water so you could have lunch at either and then go on for a wonderful walk/bike ride afterwards. That would be my recommendation.
