Don't Forget your Sunblock!

During most of the year, the weather in Malta is quite summery. High temperatures and a scorching sun can easily wear you down and take out some of the fun. It is best to apply a good sunscreen before going out in the morning, and carrying the lotion with you is also recommended.

The Three Capital Cities

Malta can boast of three capital cities. The historic walled city of Mdina was the capital of the island from the time of the Romans up till 1530. From 1530, the Knights of St John settled in Birgu (Vittoriosa) and turned the once quiet fishing hamlet to a naval base and the hub of the island. From 1566 to date, Valletta, the "city built by gentlemen for gentlemen" is the centre of Malta's history, culture and influence. It is highly recommended to visit all these fortified cities, as each one offers a different experience.
