Sadly this walk across the weir is closed at present (2023) as its been deemed unsafe after trees and other debris have damaged it over the winter - From Preston Crowmarsh you can walk along the towpath to Wallingford and beyond in one direction and in the other to Shillingford and Dorchester on Thames and beyond. A great place to wild swim too but take care and look out for boats.

A picture perfect village steeped in history with the church, alms house and primary school all built in the 1400s and still in use as they were originally intended to this day. Henry VIII visited and Chaucer's niece is buried in the churchyard as is the author Jerome K Jerome. There is an ancient watercress bed running through the village with a visitor centre and a community owned shop which offers coffee, sandwiches and cakes amongst other goodies.

Oxford revolves around its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. The architecture of its 38 colleges in the city’s medieval centre led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the 'City of Dreaming Spires'. University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street, which runs from Carfax Tower (with city views) to the Botanic Garden on the River Cherwell. So much to see and do including the excellent Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the Radcliffe Camera, punting on the river Cherwell to name a few. Leave your car behind and catch the bus into the city from the end of the lane, a 5 minute walk away.
