if you are in Cornwall you HAVE to visit The Pandora. A beautiful, old world pub which sits on the river. v close to Mylor, a major boating community. very popular, and in summer it's first come, first served. Stop off somewhere and pick up crab lines, bacon and buckets, and let the children sit on the jetty crabbing. This is a place that everyone loves, it's truly special, and I'd as popular with locals,as tourists. Padstow is normally where people think of going to be near the water and going crabbing, but we would pick this over a long drive to Padstow. see my boating tips for the best way to arrive, as the car park here is tiny and in summer, you may not get a space! Also lovely in winter, but a little pokey and dark inside the actual pub,not great inside for small children. lovely food, great value.

Awesome beach, our absolute favourite! Dog friendly. No loos on beach, though there are some nearby by the road. National trust card holders park free, others pay. Get there super early in the summer, as it gets busy! Beautiful and safe stream for young children to play in as well, if you need a break from watching small children wading into the sea!! From all the beaches in Cornwall, this is our favourite. Ice cream shop and pub at entrance of beach, sometimes an ice cream van on the beach. Lifeguards in summer. Great for surfing. Beware of tides though, stay safe!

Sat nav TR16 4PX We love these woods, and our children especially love the rope swings - if you take the route on the way to Portreath, then you will find the quickest way into the woods from Aggy. Excellent for dog walks and if you need a break from the beach. Very large wood, so plenty of room for all. There is a cafe, but that is on the Camborne end of the wood.

This is a lovely beach for swimming. Wilder than beaches like Hayle, but on a still day, the water here is almost Caribbean blue! Very popular with paddleboarders. Lots of eateries, beach loos and well serviced for parking, but as always, if you want to nab a good car parking space, plan to get there early.

Beautiful Trelissick. I have spent many hours walking here, and know it like the back of my hand. National Trust members park free. Dogs are allowed in the woodland walks, which extend all the way around the main house and Gardens. Dogs allowed in the shop(which is SUCH a good gift shop!) and the outdoor area of the cafe. The food here is really good, but the portions can be a bit stingy!! They do little lunch bags for children. There is a house to look around and also beautifully curated gardens. The house and gardens are not dog friendly, only the woodland walks.

Beautiful beach here and breathtaking cliffside views. It feels a bit gentler over this way, and is just lovely for a walk. Dogs not allowed on beach in summer, but they can go on a stretch of beach at the very far end. Godrevy point is well know for its seal colony. If you are visiting between Autumn and January you will see a large colony. It's so exciting! At other times of the year, keep an eye out, because I always spot at least one popping it's head up not too far from surfers! The pub here, The Rockpool is soo good! I love the food and so do our children. Dogs are allowed inside, which is always a winner for us! The views are super pretty from the outside deck. Make sure to book, as it is popular !

IT's really pretty here, but I would pick Trebah, which is right next door! over this. If you are visiting Trebah, I'd say pop in here for a look around first if you have time. The cafe at Trebah is much better and this garden, though pretty, is not dog friendly. This is a National Trust property.

If it's busy everywhere, this beach is slightly off the beaten track, has excellent parking and is well worth a visit. you need money for the parking meter! it's a bit of a walk down to the beach, but it's a very, very pretty walk. follow the signs. can be confusing,so if anyone coming back up from the beach, just ask them to point in the right direction. no facilities or cafes. Dog friendly

Pick your own fruit! TR27 5JQ (Check their website for covid19 rules etc) www.trevaskisfarm.co.uk This is child heaven, yet is somehow rarely in tourist guides! The' Pick your own' fruit picking is just awesome! Parking is free, and it is super fast to get here from St Agnes. Dog friendly as well. Depending on the time of year, there are strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, runner beans....the produce is stunning and you will never taste fresher fruit and veg than when you pick your own. It is a lovely day out, and you only pay for what you pick, there is no entrance fee. They have a lovely farm shop, selling all sorts of wonderful produce incl, meat, fish, fresh bread, frozen gourmet meals, vegan and vegetarian goods, toiletries, deli items and icecreams. They also have a selection of farm animals to look at from a distance. I'm not a fan of their restaurant, it's a bit too canteeny for my liking, not great options for children, and the system of ordering is a bit hectic and slow to arrive. Better to head home with your gorgeous produce and have a picnic the next day on the beach. My children are always exhausted after running around fruit picking, so this is a real favourite for everyone!

Horse riding

Very close to St Agnes, ten min drive. Car or taxi is a must though. Absolutely wonderful riding stables for beginners or experienced riders. Stunning beach rides, with very friendly staff, helmets and boots available there if you don't have any with you. Lovely, well looked after horses. Children's pony rides available. I have been riding here many times and it is fabulous value. You can pay by card as well, which is always easier than finding cash! Make sure to book in advance, as even in the winter it can be busy. In my opinion, the nicest stables in the area.

Surfing in Aggy

Tom is a brilliant surfer and v well known local in St Agnes. He could not look more like a surfer, he's the one with blonde curly surf hair! He is brilliant with children and so friendly. They have wetsuits for hire, if you don't have your own. Breakers is run on St Agnes beach (Trevaunance Cove) . There is a cafe right on the beach. Parking is very tight during the summer, and you will need to pay. So, if you can face it, I would recommend walking down there, although walking back up the hill is not so fun! V nice ice creams from the kiosk next to beach. Contact Tom and his team on www.surf-lessons.co.uk
