If you take the hiking trail up from Griffith park to the Observatory you will have beautiful landscape pictures. If you decide just to drive up to the Observatory you can look down upon all of Los Angeles. Bonus you can also see the HOLLYWOOD sign from there!

The Santa Monica pier is lovely they have a small roller coaster that goes above the pier and a huge Ferris wheel. they also have an arcade and lots of fair type rides to enjoy.
