Lake Willoughby is a beautiful glacial lake in Westmore, approximately 15 minutes away from the guesthouse. Over 300 feet deep at its deepest point, the lake sits in a deep valley with Mount Hor on the west side, and Mount Pisgah on the east side. There are two public family beaches, South Beach on the south end of the lake and a larger North Beach at the north end. A clothing optional beach West Beach is located on the south end of the lake as well, out of view of the road and the South Beach. A boating ramp is available on the eastern side of the lake on Vermont Route 5A.

Lake Willoughby is a beautiful glacial lake in Westmore, approximately 15 minutes away from the guesthouse. Over 300 feet deep at its deepest point, the lake sits in a deep valley with Mount Hor on the west side, and Mount Pisgah on the east side. There are two public family beaches, South Beach on the south end of the lake and a larger North Beach at the north end. Wheeler Mountain is a hiking trail in Sutton and on the western side of Lake Willoughby but accessed primarily from US Route 5 in Barton. The trail is very rocky and requires a little bit of strength to climb over some of the rocks and boulders but the views at the peaks are beautiful

Lyndonville is the closest village with a variety of services and stores, about 15 minutes south of the guesthouse. There is a laundromat, two grocery stores, several gas stations, restaurants, and auto repair shops. Interstate 91 is also accessible in Lyndonville.

West Burke is a small village south of the guesthouse by approximately 5 minutes. Our post office is located there, as well as one gas station with a deli, Mike's Gas, and a small general store, Aldrich's General Store. The general store has a variety of food items, basic necessities, and a deli as well.

Saint Johnsbury is about 45 minutes south. It is about 7000 people and contains local shopping opportunities, services, and is the junction of several major roads including US Route 5, US Route 2, Interstate 91, and Interstate 93.

A very small bedroom community, Newark is known locally for the several ponds in the area, Center Pond, Newark Pond, as well as Job's Pond and Bald Hill Pond which are accessed from roads in Newark but are located in Westmore. Newark does not contain any services or stores but these can be found in Burke and Lyndonville to the south
