This is a great restaurant. Pick a sunny day with a slight breeze and dine there in the afternoon on their outdoor patio that overlooks a working fishing harbor. It's my favorite place. The food is wonderful. Be sure to have Stuarts bread with escargot.

This is a great place to try seafood. The views are wonderful. My favorite is the Cafe Delight. Located in Bar Harbor on West Street close to the pier.

Sorry no photo. Parson's is located a short walk from the house on Eagle Lake Road. This is a great place to buy Seafood and Debbie will fix you up with the best. I will say that Lobster is a mess and smelly when cooked at home. I recommend a boiled lobster dinner in a restaurant and let them clean up the mess! When it comes to buying boiled lobster dinner - just go to the cheapest place. A boiled lobster is a boiled lobster. Restaurants will advertise lobster dinner deals so I recommend finding a deal and eating lobster out. But if you want to buy lobster or any fresh Maine Seafood, Parson's is my recommendation.

Sightseeing
Sorry - no picture... but just wait to you see the views. Beech Hill farm is a nice organic farm but it's really Beech Hill Mountain that I want to recommend. Drive past Beech Hill Farm to the end of the road (not far at all). Park your car and hike up Beech Hill Mt. Within minutes you will have great views. This is a great mountain for kids. It will take you about 30 minutes to get to the top where there is a fire tower for even more views. It's my favorite mountain to climb.

Bass Harbor lighthouse is between Seawall and Seafood Ketch. You must see a lighthouse in Maine. And some history, my family were the first family lightkeeper's at Bass Harbor lighthouse. My grandmother's Grandfather, John Thurston is named at the lighthouse. It's a beautiful spot and be sure to take lots of pictures.

Swimming
Echo lake beach is great for kids. The water is perfect for swimming. If you don't like the beach scene, drive in to Ikes Point and take a quick dip there. Lake swimming is wonderful. Don't worry about any critters in our waters here in Maine. There is nothing in them that can hurt you. Actually, Maine has no bug or snake that is poisonous. We have some of the best lakes in the world for swimming. Echo lake is my favorite.

Echo Lake Beach

The tide comes in over rocks that have been baking in sun all day and it warms the water dramatically. Sand Beach waters are very cold, but if you enjoy swimming and want to swim in Maine ocean waters, find a rocky beach....they are numerous all over the island, on an incoming high tide. There is nothing more refreshing than swimming in Maine waters. I swam in the Ocean off and on all day on the 4th of July.
