Parks & Nature
Mai Khao beach is in the northwest of the island of Phuket. It is Phuket’s longest beach. The area around Mai Khao beach is still very quiet and natural. Mai Khao Beach is a protected sea turtle nesting area between November and February the beach is a nesting area of sea turtle. You can also find a mole crab (sand crab) live under the surface of the sand. An airplane landing at Phuket international airport is a popular tourist attraction as well.

Splash Jungle Water Park is a popular theme park on Mai Khao Beach, just next to Phuket International Airport. It’s not huge and a bit pricey, but it’s a great way to spend the day with the kids and the family having fun, eating or even drinking in the water of the pool bar.

Less known, but worth a photo, is the Mai Khao Temple (Wat Mai Khao). The temple itself is tucked away from the road and doesn’t have any particular architectural interest, but it hides a little treasure: a small bird sanctuary hidden in the park behind it. Surrounded by a protective wall, a small lake with trees growing in the water is the shelter for a large number of white birds, probably cattle egrets. Since it is quite a strict temple, it’s not recommended just to drive through.
