If you're headed to kailua, take this little side road on your way over the mountain. It only adds a few minutes to the drive but the scenery is breathtaking. It feels more like that "old Hawaii" you've dreamed of.

It's an ideal place to learn how to SUP as the bay is protected an you don't have to worry about waves knocking you over. It's also an excellent place to take in the fireworks on Friday night!

Gorgeous beach with a super fun rock to jump off into the water. There is also walk off rock climbing on the left side by the cliffs. It's a huge beach with horrible parking. Your best bet is to drop people off and park in Waiamea valley for $10-15 cash.

Don't go into this expecting a waterfall at the end. A lot of times it is dried up. The hike itself is what you're after! It takes you through beautiful jungle full of trees, vines and wild ginger. It's not a super difficult hike, but can be if it's rainy. Watch out for the mud!

Completely paved all the way up, this trail is easy, if a bit exposed and hot. From the top you can see Lanai, molokai and Maui on a clear day. Also a fun place to go whale watching.

Located inside the food pantry, Hula dogs are an excellent snack for on the go. Buns are skewered on heated spikes to toast the inside and then they are filled with sauces and a hot dog is slipped inside. It's heavenly.

It's a little pricy but if you want to get a glimpse of the Polynesian cultures this is the place to go. The shows are high quality and fun for the whole family. Stay for the night show "Ha, breath of life" It's my favorite musical/dancing/fire knife show on island.
