Carlsbad has seen a boom in the oil field in the last 4 years. It is a busy place, especially from about 5-8 PM. I would try to get my shopping done before then if possible.

Food Scene
This is my favorite restaurant in Carlsbad. It is delicious and has neat vibe. They have beer on tap and a lounge upstairs. I don't drink personally so I can't recommend the alcohol. It seems to be very poplar with those who do.

The Cactus Cafe is good home town food, and I the closest restaurant to Washington Ranch. Just about 10 Min from us.
