On Tuesdays and Fridays, there's a great open-air market in the Diesterwegplatz at Südbahnhof. There's great food at great values, and also the best bread in Frankfurt, which is found one of the smallest booths, usually next to the lady who sells farm fresh eggs.

It takes two streetcars (the 14 and then the 17) to get here, but it's so worth it... this is a restaurant and venue situated within a massive, gorgeous city park. It gets busy on the weekends but is all but deserted during the week, and makes for a great way to spend a few hours, or most of the day. The food is excellent, and the restaurant has been in business for something like six centuries.
