Pescia
Calamecca is the second hilltop village you come to travelling up. It has a small bar and shop where you can buy basic food items. It is open every day in summer but closes for siesta and 12.30 and opens again at 3.00.

Florence is about one hour from Lanciole by car or you can catch up train from Pescia station. The restaurants and shopping are great. Best to book on line for Prada tickets as the queues are terrible all months of the year. A private tour is worth the extra cost as you learn so much more about the history of art and artists.

Lucca is one of the best preserved Medieval walled cities in Italy. It also has Roman infrastructure visible, such as the original Roman Wall and amphitheatre. The walk (or cycle) around the top of the wall is spectacular.

Serra Pistoiese is another medieval village that is easy to walk around, it looks over Lanciole and has a lovely cafe/bar for coffee and lunch.

You pass by this village after Pescia. Fraceschi is a great hardware shop. It has a good butcher in the very narrow part of the street. Da Narone is a good restaurant, but best to book.

Drive slowly around blind mountain corners on narrow roads. There can be trucks and fast cars coming from the other direction. This is Italy!

Lanciole Circola
Wander up and book a table at the Lanciole Circle for pizza and pasta on Saturday night after 3.00pm
(about 200 metres from the front door). You might like to take in the view and have aperitivi. Ask if you would like a table outside for dinner. The prices for food and drink are minimal and the quality of food and ambience makes you feel like a local.
