Imagine you had just broken the sacred laws, the kapu, and the only punishment was death. Your only chance of survival is to elude your pursuers and reach the Pu'uhonua, a place of refuge. The Pu'uhonua protected the kapu breaker, defeated warriors, as well as civilians during the time of battle. This place is full of Hawaiian culture, King Kamehameha's personal hangout, walk through the refuge surrounded by tall tikis!

The Huliheʻe Palace is located in historic Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi, on Ali'i Drive. The former vacation home of Hawaiian royalty, it was converted to a museum run by the Daughters of Hawaiʻi, showcasing furniture and artifacts. Huliheʻe Palace was built in 1838 by Gov. John Adams Kuakini for his daughter-in-law Princess Ruth. The Kuakini Room contains many delicate and precious heirlooms from pre-contact and post-contact Hawaii.
