Five different Venues all in one spot, all Beachfront with a wonderful breeze! A cozy & casual atmosphere which includes indoor & outdoor seating, small & big plates with great cocktails. It is a versatile place which is family friendly while at the same time great for college kids. They also have a happy hour, late night and kids menu available. The live music has always been a great addition too. It is a short walk from our place as well.

They have interactive themed rooms which is their focus. Great especially on a rainy day!

Menard Park is about 2 blocks from our house, located behind the McGuire-Dent Recreation Center at 28th & Seawall. It is a nice little splash pad and it is free! It's right across from the beach so it is also a good way to rinse your sandy feet! Go on a Thursday afternoon when you can browse Galveston's Own Farmers Market, then let the kiddos play on the playground and splash pad. The Farmers Market is from 3-7pm.

McGuire-Dent Recreation Center at Menard Park
2222 28th StMenard Park is about 2 blocks from our house, located behind the McGuire-Dent Recreation Center at 28th & Seawall. It is a nice little splash pad and it is free! It's right across from the beach so it is also a good way to rinse your sandy feet! Go on a Thursday afternoon when you can browse Galveston's Own Farmers Market, then let the kiddos play on the playground and splash pad. The Farmers Market is from 3-7pm.

The Railroad Museum boasts one of the largest restored railroad collections in the southwest, and one of the five largest in the country, with numerous railroad memorabilia and exhibits, including more than 40 pieces of locomotives and rolling stock. Kids love riding the Harbourside Express and you can most Saturdays between 11am and 2pm, boarding every 20 minutes! In October, they have a train festival and in December the Santa Train comes to town! You can explore inside of old railway cars and watch miniature trains soar through numerous landscapes. They have an awesome miniature train too!

Beaches
This beach is on the east end. Before you get to Beachtown, you will pass a handful of condos, one of them being Palisade Palms. You can actually park at the bottom of the condos (there is a sign stating public beach access/parking) and walk to the beach following the sidewalk to the left. It's a long walk but the kicker is - they have showers! You follow the sidewalk to the brown walkway and at the bottom of the walkway are showers to rinse off after you are done with your day at the beach! Usually on the beach it's only residents and vacationers renting the condos out, so it isn't very crowded. Can you tell I'm a fan of this area? Enjoy!!!

What I think the seawall beaches are best for are the quintessential walks on the beach at night. If my family wants to take a stroll at dusk, we usually opt for the seawall. The lights on Pleasure Pier are lit up and make for some great photo ops! Shells collect along the jetties and dusk is a prime shelling time.
