Mountain Biking

Intermediate… https://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/ridgeline-trail-65/ Ridgeline is one of those downhills that you just have to ride! This is fast, flowy, smooth singletrack at its finest... and ridden from top-to-bottom it is downhill all the way! Keep your eyes open for the chance to hit a couple massive berms of roughly 8-10 feet in height!

Advanced… https://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/laurel-mountain-descent/ Start your ride at the trailhead of Laurel Mountain and ride back down Yellow Gap Road to the Pilot Rock Trailhead. Start your climb here. Most of Pilot Rock is unrideable, so its a lot of hike a bike to the top. Once at the top you will connect to Laurel Mountain Connector Trail. Take this trail approximately .3 miles until you see a dead tree laying on the side of the trail that looks like its blocking another trail on purpose. Its not though. Take a right behind the tree and start your 6.5 mile descent and hang on for a great ride.

Intermediate… https://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/bent-creek/ The trail system is composed of two very different areas: a flatter area, and a much more mountainous section on the ridge. There are numerous singletack and doubletrack trails in the lower, much flatter areas near Lake Powhatan. These are great beginner trails or warm up/cool down sections. These segments include Deerfield Loop, Explorer Loop, Homestead, Lower Sidehill Trail, Pinetree Loop, and others. If you're looking for a climbing challenge and/or some killer high-speed descending, the place to go is definitely towards the ridge. Green's Lick is the widely-renowned descent, and if you're riding here, you have to ride it! Green's Lick is very fast, flowy, jump-filled, full of massive berms and wallrides to rail (even bigger than those on Ingles Field Gap and Wolf Branch), a few rock gardens, several technical rock features, and offers absolutely no respite until you reach the bottom!

Intermediate… https://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/black-mountain-brevard/ The 1900 foot downhill is very rocky and rooty with plenty of waterbars. Very fun and worth the climb! The Clawhammer Route: This ride features Black Mountain. It's an amazing ride, especially if you like technical singletrack. It's a tough (mostly gravel road) climb for over 7 miles, the last 1.5 of which is mostly pushing (unless you've got crazy technical skills). But it is worth it for the amazing cliff-top view from Clawhammer mountain.
