Eating out

Great pub with good food that can get a little busy in summer so pre-booking is essential. Other times of the year you can pretty much just rock up. The food is good and it has a great outside space for families and those who like a sea view.

A recently renovated countryside village pub serving traditional British food, with a modern touch. All made fresh and seasonal, utilising produce and meat from their own farm. At the higher end of the price scale but worth it.

Great pub with good food and a huge garden area. Plenty of parking but the access is a bit tight. Situated on the A39 so easy to find but next to the main road.

A good beer selection and decent food, but one of the most picturesque locations right by Clovelly habour. Definitely worth a visit.

Tamar lake has a 5 kilometre circular path which is great for bikes, buggies and those looking for an easy walk. There is a brilliant café serving good cake and coffee, a playground for the younger members and the Lake. You can canoe, kayak, SUP and sail on Tamar lake if you a bored of the salt of the sea.

An old fishing habour that is the start of the Atlantic coast (east of Hartland point is the Bristol Chanel), there is a sea pool and pub, as well as a number of walks along the coast and inland from here.

A wonderful little village set into a steep hillside, Clovelly is one of the best known and most unusual villages in the North Devon. The cobbled high street winds its way down the hillside through traditional 16th century whitewashed cottages decked with fuchsias and geraniums. There is a number of museums and displays to take in and for those not keen on climbing the 400ft back from the harbour to the carpark there is a landrover taxi service and donkeys you can hire. There is also numerous footpaths and routes that allow you to explore this wonderful part of the coastline.

A huge expanse of golden sand, loads of parking and a soon to be opened visitor centre. The northern end of the beach is dog friendly. Great for kite surfing and other wind/sea activities as its very exposed!

At low tide there is a glorious stretch of golden sand, though not so much at high tide! Choose your visiting time carefully and there is a huge expanse to explore, if not there is a café and coast path to explore instead. Beach is dog friendly and a National Trust car park.

Duckpool bay is a beautiful little spot nestled into the north Cornish coast. Plenty of rockpools and sand to play in it is popular with families looking for a more natural place.

Marsland Mouth is a large pebble beach with some sand on the North Devon coast. The beach is only accessible on the coast path. In big seas the sound of the waves crashing onto the rocks is amazing. There is also a woodland with a wonderful circular walk around it, though a bit strenuous.

A lovely little beach which is often overlooked. At the end of a rather adventurous track lies the beautiful sandy beach (not at high tide!). There are no services though so plan accordingly.
