Pigeon Mountain park is opposite my home, just 12 steps!!
This was a volcanic cone and the age of the rock is 23,400 years! In Te Reo (Maori language) it is Ohuiarangi translated to "the desire of Rangi" - Maori had a pa (burial site) on the mountain!
Other than walking, weekend sport teams play cricket, football or touch. It's brilliant for those who like to jog - there is a running lane around the park!

The rotary walkway is five minutes away. It is being developed as a wetland habitat for native birds. The Dick Quax 5000m Memorial Run is part of this walkway - Dick Quax aka Dickie was a silver medalist in the 5000m event at the Commonwealth Games in Sweden, 1977.

I go to this park daily, it a beautiful park with trees and a long walk on a walkway.

For the Restaurateur there is Japanese, Thai, Mexican, Grangers (the best burgers!), cocktails, sushi.... you name it :)
