Humans are part of Nature; and we need a profound & nourishing connection with the natural world to be in balance and heal.
This is a doorway to rediscover your childlike wonder and fall in love with Nature again on 150 magical acres of woods, fields, wetlands, ponds, streams and trails. Re-wild yourself. Then get cozy in our majestic 8-bedroom log cabin, complete with a sauna and fully equipped kitchen.
We are also building a regenerative farm here to learn & practice stewardship of the land.

Eignin
We are privileged to be the stewards of this magical space - with a responsibility to listen to Mother Nature, learn how humans can thrive together with the natural world, and to put those lessons into practice.
Our intention with opening this property to guests is to facilitate your journey of deeper connection with and respect for Mother Nature.

This 150 acre piece of Earth showcases the many facets of the environment in upstate New York. As you ramble along the extensive trails, a series of diverse micro-environments unfolds: Leaving from the back deck, you walk from the manicured lawn over to the beaver pond, into the pine forest, along the babbling stream, into the marsh, opening back out to the wooded field covered with wild strawberries, up to the rock cliffs, then onto the maple & beech forest, with a stop by the small spring-fed pond before returning to the human-cultivated areas of hayfields, the vegetable garden, fruit orchard, chicken coop, then back to the house.

The grounds are teeming with wildlife. We share the space with deer, turkey, beaver, geese, wild ducks, hummingbirds, monarch butterflies, bees, owls, red-tail hawks and bald eagles - all common sightings in the usual seasons. Our more shy neighbours include coyote, black bear, river otter, and blue heron. Some often under-appreciated beings you might encounter are wasps, black flies and field mice (though I personally love the cute little field mice). Nature is diverse. We accept the ones we like as well as the ones we like less.

The 8-bedroom log cabin is thoughtfully designed for groups and large families to gather and connect.
-The great room takes center stage with a large fireplace, open layout, soaring cathedral ceilings, and flexible seating that can be easily re-arranged to accommodate different group activities.
-The back deck has a breathtaking view of the sunset over the pond, beaver lodge, evergreen forest and protected wetlands.
-Our dining area's enormous 8' x 8' handmade wooden dining table can easily fit 16, and is warmly lit by a dimmable chandelier.
-The BBQ grill is right outside on the deck with a full picnic table if you would like to have lunch under the sun or under the stars.
-The kitchen is fully equipped to make meals for a large group: 2 ovens, high-output 5-burner stove, a double fridge, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, Vitamix, Coffee makers, and dishwasher. We even have an extensive tea station!

Our bedrooms are named after unique local flora
Top floor:
- Cattail Room: 1 x Queen
- Thistle Room: 2 x Single
- Hemlock Room: 2 x Full
- 1 shared bathroom

Ground floor:
-Maple Room: 1 x King (Master, with attached full bathroom and clawfoot bathtub)

Bottom floor:
- Milkweed Room: 1 x Queen
- Barberry Room: 2 x Full
- Aster Room: 2 x Single
- Goldenrod Room: 6 x Single Bunks
- 2 shared bathrooms

The basement floor of the house also features a "retro" style family room, with TV and board games for more traditional family entertainment. There is also a small sauna to unwind in after a day of adventuring in the woods.

In addition to the house, the property has a 30-foot yurt with wood floors, with plenty of yoga equipment for yoga, meditation, breathwork, conscious dance, and other wellness activities. Glamping tents are available for additional accommodation. Both the yurt and the glamping tents are only available in the warmer months by special request and will require an additional charge.

We can connect you with local services to make your stay extra special, e.g. yoga instructors, nature guides familiar with the property, and private chefs.

STEWARDSHIP OF THE LAND
We take our responsibility to be right with the Earth very seriously, and ask that guests join us in this practice while in our home. This is a way we show respect and gratitude (key elements for any good relationship) to Mother Nature for all she has provided us with.

Mindset:
More important than any specific rule is the attitude and consciousness that you bring to your time here. We invite you to inhabit the mindset of consideration for and kindness to the beautiful environment around you. You are an active creator of your and others' experience, and you have the power to improve or degrade your surroundings through your choices and actions. So we invite you to take the time and attention to do whatever you're doing in a way that is kinder to this land and our fellow beings that live in it.

Reduce:
We do our best to only buy and use what we need, and minimize waste in all forms. We try not to buy overly packaged foods, avoid single-use plastics, and prefer buying consumables in biodegradable packaging.

Reuse:
We refill bottles for bathroom products, clean and reuse plastic food containers & aluminum foil, and plan meals to cleverly use leftovers. We try to purchase or make high quality furniture, tools and utensils; and use them with care so they last longer, and fix them wherever possible.

Recycle:
Compost, trash and recycling are very carefully and thoroughly sorted; following the guidelines exactly so that we maximize the odds that our recycling bags actually get recycled. Sadly, much of the "recycling" in America is never actually recycled. There are many reasons, but one of them is unsuitable items being put into the bags by well-meaning consumers.

Energy & water conservation:
We switch off lights, fans and electric heaters when we leave the room. In the cold months, we make sure doors and windows are always locked tightly to keep the heat in.
We don't leave taps running, and take showers of modest duration. We ourselves try to flush only after a “Number 2”, or at least several “Number 1”s. We understand if guests might find this a little beyond your comfort zone, so please practice what works for you. Please be very careful to ONLY flush human waste and the toilet paper we provide in the toilets.

Respect for the wilds:
This is the home of our friends the deer, coyote, beech, maple, mushrooms, and all the magical beings we share our space with. We treat the wilds with the same respect that we would have for a dearly cherished friend's home. Because that is what it is. Every time we go out onto the land, we try to leave it exactly as we found it or better. We don't bring things with us that could easily become litter. We check our surroundings for anything left behind, and pick up any litter that we might have come across.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parties and events are not allowed at this time.

Aðgengi gesta
The house is yours to use, and the trails and magical land are for you to explore. Go have adventures!

Our garages and private storage are off-limits, and we ask you don't go past the river on the hiking trails as that then turns into protected wetlands for wildlife (unless with one of our guides and booked in advance). See house rules for further details.

Yurts and Glamping are not available from Oct - April because of the cold weather.

Annað til að hafa í huga
You must have a 4WD/AWD vehicle equipped with snow chains / snow tyres (NOT "all-season tyres") to access the property any time there may be snow.

Yurts and Glamping tents are only available in the warmer months (late May - end Sep).

Visit The Sullivan Catskills
A Country Getaway 90 Minutes from New York City Home of the Original Woodstock Festival. Lonely Planet recently named the area the second-best region in the world to visit in 2019.

We’re located just 15 mins away from Narrowsburg, NY. Escape Brooklyn writes, ‘Narrowsburg sits on the Delaware River between the Catskill Mountains and the Pocono Mountains. Thanks to an influx of new shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, Narrowsburg is known by locals as the pioneer “hotspot” in Sullivan County — and it’s long-held its own for years now as one of the coolest getaways from NYC... make sure to route your drive to Route 97 through Barryville and along the Delaware River; a portion of this drive is called The Hawk’s Nest and it’s considered one of the most scenic drives in New York State’
