One of a small group of wooden lodges built in a quiet valley on the banks of the river Teign in Dartmoor National park.
Woodland walks from the doorstep. Wild birds and flowers, deer, fishing (day/week permit) starry skies. Small play area.
The lodge is warm and cosy and well equipped for up to 5 people maximum.
A fast road network only 10 mins away gives an easy journey and access to the beaches in South Devon, North Cornwall and the south west of England.

Eignin
The only sound at Mole End is the river which runs behind the cabin. Fallow deer are spotted regularly from the windows, and kingfishers and dippers are often seen on the riverbank. With very little light pollution, the stars at night are fantastic.

Four steps lead up to a porched entrance which opens into a small hallway with coat hanging space. The living room is bright and spacious with French doors which open onto a large, south west facing, covered veranda where one can enjoy the sun, and make use of the gas barbecue.
The living room with high pitched ceiling, has ample comfortable seating and a dining area. There is a coal effect electric heater for instant warmth and night storage heaters for background heat. The lodge heats up and retains it's warmth, so it is very cosy.
There is a television, DVD player, CD player and MP3 docking station. Also a selection of books and games for anyone to enjoy. For children there is a toy box and “ wet weather box” for those who want to be creative.
The well equipped kitchen opens sociably off the living room, with electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, bread machine, kettle and toaster.
The double bedroom which overlooks the river is at the rear of the lodge. It has generous storage and a wall mounted heater. Please note that bed linen is not generally supplied but special arrangements can be made.
There are duvets, rugs and pillows on all the beds.
The bathroom also has river views , a full sized bath with integral shower, wash basin, w.c. , heated towel rail, immersion heater and washer/tumble dryer.
Upstairs from the gallery there is a high view of the forest, where deer can often be seen. Here there is a cabin bed to curl up with a book but which can be used for a 5th guest.
The twin room under the eaves looks out to the river. It has ample storage and an electric wall heater.

Aðgengi gesta
Each lodge has parking for 2 cars at the door.
The code for the keysafe will be given prior to your visit, so guests can arrive anytime to suit them after 3.00 on the day their booking.
The private park covers 8 acres which are freely accessible to everyone staying. This includes a small children's play area.
The river bank runs along behind the lodge, so small children should be supervised at all times.
The area is part of the Teign valley and looks out onto Fingle woods which is managed jointly by the Woodland trust and the National trust. There are over 10 kilometers of woodland accessible from the doorway.
There are 2 bicycles for guests to use to explore the area , but one would need to bring a helmet as these are not supplied.
Rupert Brooke the poet, once camped here with a group of friends including Virgina Woolf.

Many activities are available nearby; walking, riding, cycling, golf, fishing. Permits for fishing on the Upper Teign , which is a "catch and return" river can be bought locally. There are wonderful country pubs and restaurants nearby, with the pub at Fingle Bridge along the bridle path by the river.

I am happily married to John and we have 3 wonderful grown up children and 3 lively grandchildren. I have been a hospice nurse for many years, but also have a great variety of outdoor and creative interests. I bought Mole End for our family to share but also to give others a chance to enjoy its uniquely peaceful setting. I have loved collecting together beautiful things to have in the cabin, from pictures and the quilt down to the tea towels. Our family finds a lot of enjoyment in reading, so we have brought plenty of books for people to curl up and enjoy during their stay. Having wildlife absolutely on the doorstep has increased my interest in deer etc and I hope to try fishing. I enjoy cooking, so the kitchen has been well set up with bread machine and other aids to help those who want to be creative in the kitchen. With having so many lovely walks I aim to increase my fitness even if my favourite walk always ends up at the local pub. Above all, I am going to enjoy the peace that is to found in this sheltered valley..
