Philly cheese steak is synonymous with Geno's in South Philly and neighboring Pat's (which I like more). This is a must. I would recommend an Uber or Lyft to get there and then enjoy walking around the neighboring Italian Market.

Opened in 1966. For more than half a century, Pat’s and Geno’s have waged a (mostly) friendly competition, with visitors often ordering from both shops to see which they deem the winner.

“I love their outdoor seating stools...they seem to have struggled keeping kitchen staff, and their menu often changes. Only serving domestic beer and liquor, lately the sidewalk scene has been hijacked by a group of early 30s something parents with one kid who think being a parent is the hardest job in the world...I have five kids, and I think having one kid only barely qualifies you as a parent. But if you want to park your stroller and bring your dog that is a residual from when you were single, it's a good spot to meet other parents. ”
