Built by the knights, the Manoel is one of the oldest theatres in Europe. Might be nice to watch or listen one of the many events and then stroll through the infamous straight street for a drink later

“Also known as the Bibliotheca it was founded in 1776 by Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc as a reference library. It has been the legal deposit library since 1925 and has the largest collection of Melitensia along with that of the University of Malta. The library also contains archives of the Order of St John, the University of Mdina and the University of Valletta. The Bibliotheca is housed in a late 18th century neoclassical building close to the Grand Masters Palace.”

“This majestic building was built in the 16th century by the Order of St John and is also know as the Sacra Infermeria. It was one of the leading hospitals in Europe until the 18th century and its main hall was once the largest hall in Europe with a length of 480 feet. Of note also its monumental staircase. Today the building is used for banquets, exhibitions, conferences, international conventions and theatrical shows.”
