Independence Mine State Historical Park Visitor Center and some ok the most amazing trails in Alaska!
Wonderful place to hike and see a historic mine. Hatchers pass offers great hikes in the summer, blueberry picking in the fall and all kinds of winter sports like sledding, skiing, snowboarding, and snow machining.
well worth the drive to experience the beauty of Hatchers Pass whether its to explore the mother load mining area or search for the mother load of blue berries hiding just under the leave of the low bush berries. Plenty of hiking or finish the day off driving to the Willow side of Hatchers Pass…
One of our favorite spots in Alaska! Stop for breathtaking views and there are several brilliant hikes within the pass!

“This hike is a truly awesome hike, however it is a more difficult and longer hike. The main trail at the beginning is pretty much straight up through the trees, but definitely worth the hike. There is a side trail that zig-zags through brush. It is an equally awesome hike, just be prepared for a longer hike. Once you get through that, it is beautiful to walk on the mountain and see the view below and the mountains surrounding you. ”

“I love their salads and burgers but their cheesy bacon fries are the best. In the summer on the weekends they host many events outdoors on the lawn from live music, beer and yoga all with local beers on tap. ”

“Palmer is a charming little town with loads of character! The historic homes and buildings are nostalgic. The Palmer Water Tower is somewhat of an icon in Palmer. If you enjoy history, I encourage you to take a peek at the Palmer Chamber of Commerce web page before touring our small town. In addition, we have some fun historical fiction books depicting the early settlement in Palmer located in the guest house, as well as other Alaskan books. ”
