Ramsey Cascades is the tallest waterfall in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hidden among a hardwood forest and spilling over a series of rocky boulders for over 100-feet, it's easily one of the crown jewels of the park. Ramsey Cascades is the tallest waterfall in the Great Smoky National Park and one of the most spectacular. Water drops 100 feet over rock outcroppings and collects in a small pool where numerous well-camouflaged salamanders can be found. The trail to the waterfall gains over 2,000' in elevation over its 4 mile course. The 8-mile roundtrip hike is considered strenuous in difficulty. The falls follows rushing rivers and streams for much of its length. The last 2 miles pass through old-growth cove hardwood forest with large tuliptrees, basswoods, silverbells, and yellow birches. Y’all have gotta see this!

The tallest waterfall in the Smoky Mountains rests in the Greenbrier area of the national park. A 10 mile Ramsey Cascades hiking trail leads to these stunning falls and passes through magnificent old growth forests filled with gigantic yellow poplars, birch trees, and hemlocks.
