Watch one of the last wild herds of buffalo roam the plains. It's nearly always possible to see the bison, and you may see more than you want! Sometimes they come right up to the car. (Stay inside; bison can make a 6 ft vertical leap.)

you can drive through the preserve and see bison and other wild animals. It is the "largest protected remnant of tallgrass prairie left on earth". Enjoy the visitors' center, and learn about the tallgrass ecosystem.

A bit of a drive, but worth it. Herds of buffalo, scissortail flycatchers, and yes, the wind does sweep down the plains.
