Richardson’s Ocean Beach Park is the black sand beach closest to Hilo. It is the best choice for snorkeling on the East side of the Big Island. Richardson’s is also a great place to bring kids with its tide pools, calm water and picnic area.

This beach is great for its protected cove and sandy bottom. Often called Keiki beach because its the perfect place to let kids play, yet it is still a great place for adults to enjoy.
