The sole trail from Swallow Falls on this list is a nice, breezy romp. Your path follows the Youghiogheny River until you reach the majestic Muddy Creek Falls, before looping back through some woodlands. The path is lined with rocky outcroppings with rhododendron and mountain laurel blooms.

Great hiking (not difficult) - can take dogs on near side of river before you cross in to park. Dogs not permitted Memorial Day to Labor Day in state park.

Virgin Hemlock forest patronized by Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey Firestone during their day. Maryland's highest waterfall is a sight to behold. Groomed hiking trails abound and, if you are up for the challenge, take on the 5.5 mile trail between Swallow Falls State Park and Herrington Manor State Park! On bike or on foot, this trail will offer you life memories that you will cherish! A MUST SEE when visiting our County!
