Downtown is home to many restaurants, bars, indie shops, and historic spots. Grove Street is particular in its line of shops and restaurants. There is also a waterfront overlooking the Manhattan view, and there multiple access to Path Stations for transit to New York.
Newark Avenue is a street turned into a pedestrian walkway full of restaurants live music bars bookstores and people watching
If you don't feel like going to NYC, Jersey City's downtown area has great views and many bars and restaurants.

“Check out Two Boots Pizza, Toricos Ice Cream (on Erie Ave) and Another Man's treasure. There are tons of boutiques on Grove street and everything is within walking distance! Also on Bay Street there is AK Fruit market, get fresh flowers, fresh produce, and groceries at a great price!”

“The BEST pizza in the neighborhood! Detroit-style pizza, quality beers, and crafty cocktails. Highly recommend for foodies! Known by "Low Fi" to locals, this bar is consistently rated one of the top bars in the state.”
