Ancient Egyptian temple & museum moved from Aswan & rebuilt in lush parkland, with sunset views.
From the Royal Palace, we can walk down Calle Bailén to one of the best views of Madrid: the Temple of Debod at the top of the Parque de la Montaña. This 2,200 year old temple was brought stone by stone from Egypt as a gift to our country for the help provided in the rescue of the temples of Nubia (which were to be buried by the creation of the Aswan Dam in the 19th century) and its interior can be visited free of charge within the established opening hours, although the number of tourists who come to this point also do so for the impressive views of the Casa de Campo and the Royal Palace from this hill. We recommend watching the sunset from this point and photographing the temple as it is bathed in the last rays of the day's sun. From here, a 5-minute walk away, you will find the Plaza de España, a meeting point for tourists and young people to enjoy its esplanade in fine weather, and the end of the famous Gran Vía street.
