Close family friendly good beginner surf spot. Not dog friendly though. Can be crowded during the summer and parking can be a challenge at times, otherwise easy access and very popular

The best beginners spot to surf, and a great place to soak up the sun. Check the webcam on surfline.com to see if if there are any waves. If you are looking for something just as mellow but with more consistent waves, try Jacks in Capitola. Feel free to use the boards on the balcony. Or rent another board from Cowell's board shop near the round about.

Club Ed Surf Rentals & Lessons sets up his trailer right on Cowell's Beach nice and early. Has everything you need right there so no need to drag stuff home or back to a shop.
